Mozambique seeks partnership in Brazil to increase rice production

Mozambique has a rice production still very deficient, needing to import for its internal consumption. With a view to reversing the scenario, a Mozambican delegation has been in Brazil since this Monday, March 27, in order to seek partnerships to increase production at national level. According to the president of the National Federation of Agrarian Associations of Mozambique (FENAGRI), Hernani Mussanhane, Mozambique intends to be a major rice producer, increasing its production to up to one million tons and, therefore, no longer depending on external sources. “We are in Brazil, specifically in Rio Grande do Sul, to learn. We have a great interest in technology transfer through appropriate equipment to empower our farmers and make the country more competitive, similar to the region we are in”, explained the official.
