In the first four months of the FY 2023-2024, Myanmar has exported 926.9 tons of honey, with its main export destinations being South Korea, Japan, the United States, and Singapore. The beekeeping industry in Myanmar is primarily concentrated in Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, and Shan State, producing various types of honey including sesame, date, sunflower, lychee, and flower nectar. With around 6,200 beehives in state-owned stations and approximately 820 private bee-nutrition enterprises, Myanmar annually produces about 7,000 tons of honey, exporting around 2,600 tons with an average price of $1,600 per ton. In the previous fiscal year, honey exports exceeded 1,900 tons, generating revenue of over $2.8 million.
