The National Commission for Cereals, Fibers and Oilseeds recently convened to discuss several pivotal issues within the agricultural sector. The meeting covered topics such as moisture content in soybean classification, grain production costs for the 2023/2024 harvest, and the effects of adverse weather conditions on crop profitability. Mauro Osaki highlighted that while rice and beans showed profitability, wheat and corn faced challenges in covering operating costs due to weather conditions and market fluctuations. He proposed the cultivation of alternative crops and oilseeds for biofuel as a strategy to mitigate risks. The meeting concluded with the expectation that the Campo Futuro Project would present consolidated data on these issues next Saturday.
