The Ukrainian market of oilseeds and processed products has undergone significant changes, with a shift towards exporting sunflower products, particularly to Romania and Bulgaria. However, logistical issues and protests in the EU led to unilateral bans on Ukrainian raw materials, resulting in a decrease in exports and a surge in domestic demand. This, in turn, led to lower prices and a reduction in processing volumes. Sunflower oil production may reach the lowest levels in eight seasons, with only 4.9 million tons produced in 2022/23 MY. The potential for sunflower oil production and export in the next season is expected to remain low due to various factors including the situation in the country, the operation of the 'grain corridor', high carry-over stocks of oilseeds and sunflower oil, and an increase in production.
