New Zealand is aiming to eradicate M. Bovis within ten years in an extensive plan that includes frequent testing and movement restrictions. The disease, recently discovered in a dairy cow in the Canterbury area, has been found in 279 locations and has led to the culling of over 183,000 head of cattle. The eradication program has seen significant progress, but new cases are still possible. The total budget for the program is €497 million, and farmers are required to use the national animal movement tracking system to prevent the disease from spreading.
