In November, the UK saw a 3.1% increase in beef and veal production compared to October, reaching 84,100 tonnes, and a 6.1% increase compared to the same month the previous year. Prime cattle slaughter also increased by 2.6% compared to October and 5.2% compared to November of the previous year, reaching 177,600 head. Cow slaughter hit its highest monthly level since November 2016 at 74,100 head, marking a 5.1% increase compared to October and an 11.4% increase compared to November of the previous year. The higher kill rate may be attributed to high cow prices, high input costs, and regional forage pressures. From January to November, the UK's beef production totaled an estimated 831,500 tonnes, marking a 1.4% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
