In the first half of 2021, Turkey's olive and olive oil exports saw a 3% decrease, generating $136 million from the sector. Despite the decline, these exports contributed 1.3% to the country's food product exports, which reached $10.1 billion. The exports were led by table olives, followed by olive oil and olive pomace oil, with Germany being the top importer. The Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters' Association is aiming for $300 million in exports for the 2020-21 season, particularly focusing on the US market, where Turkey currently has a 30% share in olive oil imports. The country is also striving to become a price maker in the global market by aiming to harvest 1.2 million tons of table olives and 650,000 tons of olives, making it the leading producer in these categories.
