Spain: Olive oil, a niche product in the Taiwanese market

Taiwan, like other Asian countries, has begun to change its preferences in the consumption of oils, looking for other healthier product options. This trend can become an opportunity for Spanish olive oil companies, as reflected in the market study carried out by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan. The Taiwanese olive oil market is characterized by its small size, where consumption is not widespread. Imports of virgin olive oil have shown a positive trend in recent years, as a result of the greater knowledge that the population has of the product after the first decades of commercialization on the island. Refined olive oil, however, shows a more modest potential, due to its image less associated with health, although its lighter flavor is more in keeping with the Taiwanese palate.
