Iran has exported over 46,000 tons of pistachios in the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year, according to Arsalan Qasemi, the chairman of Agriculture and Food Industries Committee of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives. Despite the country's reputation for hydrocarbon resources, it is also a major producer of pistachios, with the majority of production coming from the southeastern Kerman province. However, climate change has caused severe drought in Iran, affecting pistachio production, which fell by 70,000 tons in the previous year to around 150,000 tons. The current year's sprouts have also been destroyed by climate change, and the government's support is deemed necessary to maintain market stability.
