The global blueberry market is experiencing a mixed situation with some seasons ending and others yet to begin. The Netherlands and Germany are expecting shortages and price increases due to a decrease in Moroccan and Spanish blueberry supplies. Polish growers are waiting to see the impact of night frosts on their crop. In contrast, Serbia is projecting a 15% increase in blueberry production. Spain is dealing with lower production and higher prices, exacerbated by water scarcity. Chile is reassessing its blueberry production and export strategies due to increased competition and expects a 20% decrease in exports. Peru, the world leader in blueberry production, has gained access to new export markets and increased its production by 37.5% in the first quarter of 2023. China is the largest importer of Peruvian blueberries, with shipments valued at US$222 million in the 2022/23 campaign, marking a 29% increase in value from the previous campaign.
