The Chestnut and Chestnut District of Campania, Italy, is working to obtain the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) for the Feverfew Chestnut, building on the region's existing four PGIs for chestnuts. This initiative aims to enhance the region's chestnut industry and differentiate it in the market, particularly in the face of competition from other European countries and China. The Partenio area, known for its chestnut production and tradition of making the chestnut of the priest, is the focus of this new PGI. A promoting committee will be established in September to oversee the application process.
