Pasco: Hailstorms, frosts, and droughts damaged 160 hectares of crops

The Pasco Agrarian Agency reported that the climatic events recorded between December 1 and December 8 caused damage to 140 hectares and losses in 20 hectares of potato, corn, and broad bean crops, located in the Huallaga and Tingo basins, which comprise the districts of Yarusyacán, Ticlacayán, Huariaca, Pallanchacra, and Yanacancha. During this period, hailstorms, frosts, and droughts occurred, causing significant damage to the crops, a situation that severely compromises the economy of the producing families, whose main livelihood is agricultural production. In the face of this emergency, the producers request the immediate support of the district authorities and the Regional Government of Pasco, in order to mitigate the losses and recover the damaged areas.
