The European Commission forecasts a 3% increase in the consumption of fresh peaches and nectarines in the EU for 2022, reaching 6.1 kilos per capita, despite a decrease in purchasing power. This is due to an increase in community production, good weather conditions, and the return of tourism. However, production is expected to drop by 9% from the average of the last five years. While exports are projected to remain stable, imports are expected to rise by 11%. On the other hand, EU tomato production is expected to decrease by 3%, and imports are expected to rise by the same amount.
