World pepper prices remained mixed on June 9, 2023, with a slight decrease in Indonesia but stable prices in other countries. In Indonesia, Lampung black pepper and Muntok white pepper prices fell slightly. Meanwhile, Malaysia's Kuching ASTA black and white pepper prices remained stable. Brazil's black pepper price was $2,950/ton. In Vietnam, black pepper export prices ranged from 3,500 to 3,600 USD/ton, and white pepper was 5,000 USD/ton.
In the domestic market, Vietnam's pepper prices continued to decline for the fourth consecutive day, with prices in Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, and Binh Phuoc provinces decreasing. Despite this, the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association reported a 9.4% increase in export volume and a 7.5% increase in turnover in May 2023, with exports to China and the US growing. From January 1 to May 31, 2023, Vietnam exported 131,777 tons of pepper, with a 30.0% increase in exports over the same period last year.
