Indonesia's pepper crop is expected to be smaller in 2023 due to competition with coffee trees and transition to palm trees. Meanwhile, Brazilian pepper is facing Salmonella contamination issues in the EU market. Global pepper production is estimated to decrease by 1% in 2023. In Vietnam, the domestic pepper price has increased to 1,500 VND/kg. Exports of businesses outside the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association have increased by 342.5% in the first 4 months of the year.
