In July 2024, Peru experienced a significant growth in its chia exports, with a 98.4% increase in value and 124.4% increase in volume compared to the same month in 2023, reaching a total of 249 tons valued at $875,000. Despite this growth, the average price per kilogram fell by 11.6% to $3.51. These chia exports found their way to 17 different markets, with Thailand, Canada, and France being the primary ones. Agronegocios Wiraccocha del Perú S.A.C. played a pivotal role in these agricultural exports, contributing 24.5% to the total value, mainly to Thailand. Other significant contributors included Agrofino Foods S.A.C., Glint S.A., Agriprocess S.A.C., and Interamsa Comercial S.A.C.
