Poland is a significant producer of carp, with the industry accounting for over 30% of freshwater fish catching. The average carp consumption per capita in the country is 0.49 kg, and the price of fish is a key factor in consumption. In 2021, carp production was 461 tonnes, with the majority being consumed domestically and the rest exported, mainly to Sweden and Great Britain. Carp is particularly consumed during the Christmas and New Year period. The Deputy Director General of KOWR, Marcin Wroński, is encouraging consumers to make informed purchasing decisions by choosing products with the 'POLISH PRODUCT' label to support local production and the economy.
