Pork exports from Mexico to Canada grow 184%

• The Agricultural Markets Consulting Group indicated that although Japan and China are the main export markets for Mexican pork, Canada made a jump of 184.9% in the period January - August of this year, importing 2,785 t. coming from our country. During the first eight months of the year, Mexican pork exports showed a year-on-year increase of 5.2% in the volume category, totaling 180,642 tons, this according to the Agricultural Markets Consultant Group (GCMA). These shipments generated an economic spill for our country that amounted to 692.7 million dollars, a figure that reflected an increase of 14.3% over the same period of 2020. During this period, the main destination for Mexican pork meat continued to be Japan, accounting for 49.1% of total exports, with a volume of 88,650 tons, an amount 10.9% higher than what was observed a year ago.
