In 2022, Paraguay's pork exports experienced a decline due to low market prices and high maritime freight costs. According to the Servicio Nacional de Calidad y Salud Animal (Senacsa), the country exported 1,184.2 tonnes of pork, generating an income of US$ 2.8 million. This represents a decrease of 895 tonnes and US$ 2.1 million compared to 2021. Uruguay was the main destination for these exports. For 2023, there are expectations to open new markets and regularize exports to Russia. Additionally, Taiwan has allowed the import of pork products from Paraguay, with a potential market of around 10,000 tonnes.
