A severe imbalance has emerged in the European potato market: there is too much produce, while demand has remained weak. The consequence is a dramatic drop in prices. According to market indicators, the EEX financial market saw a 30 percent decline on a monthly basis in March, with the average price remaining 80 percent below the start of the season and 87 percent below the same period in 2025. This is no longer a simple price correction, but severe market pressure that burdens both producers and storage capacities simultaneously.
