The president of the National Tortilla Council, Homero López García, reported that starting from today, adjustments in the price of the tortilla could begin to be registered in various points across the country. The leader explained that, although an increase was announced by one of the main flour companies, this rise does not represent a significant impact on the final price of the product, as it amounts to approximately twenty-five cents per kilogram. He clarified that the adjustment in the price of the tortilla does not stem from the cost of flour or corn, coinciding with what was stated by the president Claudia Sheinbaum, but rather from an accumulated backlog of at least three years in which no increases have been made, despite the sustained rise in inputs such as fuels, spare parts, food-grade paper, and materials used in production.
