The price of the Hilton Quota, or high-quality chilled boneless beef cuts, exported from Argentina to the EU, reached a 10-year high of US$16,800 per ton in March, an increase of 8.38% from February and 60% from a year ago. The Argentine Ministry of Agriculture distributed 29,389 tons of this quota from July 1 of the previous year to June 30, placing 70% of it on the European market, which has resulted in foreign exchange income exceeding expectations. This situation is due to a meat shortage in the EU caused by reduced production and decreased imports from the UK post-Brexit, and the high demand for meat in Europe despite the challenges of finding large, well-marbled cuts in Argentina for export.
