The global average price of chicken reached a peak of $2.74 per kg in December 2021, marking a 17% increase from the previous month. The average annual price is projected to rise from $2.26/kg last year to $2.30/kg in 2022, a 38% year-on-year increase to $2.26/kg in 2021 due to increased feed and logistics costs. Despite a stable global production of 120 million tons, chicken prices are expected to continue rising due to growing demand. The global chicken meat production is projected to rise to 121 million tonnes this year. Brazil and the United States are the leading suppliers to the global chicken market, accounting for 25% and 23% of global chicken exports, respectively.
