Prices for citrus fruits and bananas have increased in Moldova, their sales are growing slowly

On the eve of winter holidays in Moldova, citrus and exotic fruits have risen in price. Over the last week of 2021, wholesale prices for the “big triad” - oranges, tangerines, bananas - increased by 1-2 lei / kg, to 17-20 lei / kg ($ 0.94-1.12 / kg). However, this is the price level of the end of November-beginning of December of the current year. In December last year, these products were 4-7% more expensive. According to the managers of supermarket chains in Chisinau, the rise in prices for citrus and exotic fruits this winter is a bit late, usually this process begins no later than the second week of December. In December 2021, according to their observations, a seasonal increase in demand for this group of goods began to manifest itself only at the beginning of the last decade of the month.
