Despite good harvest prospects, the Ukrainian corn market is facing a number of challenges — delays in the harvesting campaign, problems with grain quality due to moisture, and weak export activity. This is reported by the analytical department of the agricultural cooperative PUSK, created within the framework of VAR. "Corn is less afraid of wet weather than other crops, but there is one problem — mycotoxins. They appear when the grain is in contact with moisture for a long time. This was already the case in 2022, when part of the harvest lost its export quality. Europeans check these batches very carefully, and corn with an increased level of mycotoxins may simply not go for export," experts note.
