In the past three years, Qatar has developed its dairy industry from scratch, achieving self-sufficiency and beginning to export dairy products to other Arab nations in 2020. The country achieves 110% of its dairy supply for the local market through the large dairy company Baladna, and has become self-sufficient in vegetable production for six to seven months of the year. Qatar has also seen demand for its organic vegetables in other Arab countries. However, due to limited natural resources, the country is not pursuing significant vegetable export goals and is planning to open a tomato paste plant to process surplus tomatoes. The Qatari food supply system has been well-prepared, needing no changes due to the coronavirus pandemic.
