Tridge summary

The price of red snapper fish at Dar es Salaam’s Ferry International Market has more than doubled due to moonlight periods, with the larger fish now costing 55,000/- from 30,000/-. The scarcity is attributed to the moonlight driving fish deeper into the sea, leading to reduced supply of the fish and other species. The business is still good, with hotels being the main buyers. Other fish prices have also increased, and the majority of the fish consumption contributes to about 30% of the total animal protein intake in Tanzania.
