At the "Avant-Garde-T" farm in the Kirovohrad region, significant attention is paid to optimizing the sowing density, as this indicator directly affects both the efficiency of moisture use and seed costs. That is why in recent years, they have been gradually moving towards reducing sowing rates, adapting them to the growing conditions and productivity of the fields. This was told in an interview for The Ukrainian Farmer magazine by the farm's agronomist, Dmytro Tytar. Specifically, for corn this season, differentiated sowing rates have been determined depending on the productivity of the plots. On average, they will be 51-54 thousand seeds per hectare. The lower limit will be 47 thousand seeds per hectare in low-productive areas where moisture is poorly retained. Conversely, on the best fields, the density can be significantly higher. On the most productive plots, the rate is increased to 60-62 thousand seeds per hectare. Overall, corn yield at the farm varies significantly ...
