In January 2021, Mexico achieved a surplus in its agri-food trade balance of $603 million, with total agri-food trade reaching $5.719 billion. Despite a decrease in agricultural exports by 12.1%, a surplus of $345 million was reported. Agro-industrial exports saw a growth of 9.82% at $1,585 million, leading to a surplus of $258 million. The main Mexican export groups were vegetables, beverages, and fruits. Notably, pork meat, natural honey, and unroasted coffee were the agricultural products with the highest exports, while inflated toasted cereal products, frozen orange juice, tequila and mezcal, waters and soft drinks, and beer were the agro-industrial products with the highest increases in sales abroad.
