Brazil: Research reveals that El Niño impacts the production of Amazon nuts

El Niño involves atmospheric and oceanic factors and originates in the territory of Peru, resulting in climate change. A survey with the participation of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), in partnership with other national institutions, revealed that this phenomenon contributes to the drop in the production of Amazon nuts, also known as Brazil nuts. The researchers reveal that the search for this relationship came from the fact that, after the occurrence of one of the most intense El Niño episodes in late 2015 and early 2016, there was a sudden drop in the production of this nut in the following year (2017). .
