Embrapa, in collaboration with the agriculture secretariats of Acre and Rondônia and EMATER-RO, is organizing a course to train extension technicians on the production of Brazil nut seedlings using a method adapted from the Instituto de Investigaciones de la Amazonia Peruana (IIAP). The course will cover legislation, practices in nurseries, and the production of seedlings in mini-greenhouses, with a focus on the grafting technique. The objective is to help extractive families improve their income by enriching native Brazil nut groves and implementing Agroforestry Systems. The process, which involves grafting and the production in mini-greenhouses, is expected to provide fruits in six to eight years, contributing to family food security and additional income.
