Vietnam exported an estimated 300,000 tons of rice in October 2020, generating $161 million in revenue, making the total rice export volume and value for the first 10 months of 2020 5.29 million tons and $2.61 billion, respectively. Despite a 4% decrease in volume, the value increased by 8% compared to the same period in 2019. The Philippines was the leading market, with a 34.5% share, followed by Indonesia and China. The average export price was $490.6 per ton, up by 12.7% year-on-year. Notably, rice prices in the domestic market fluctuated due to heavy rains and flooding in the Mekong Delta, causing delays in harvest and increasing prices, while in Bac Lieu, the harvest of Summer-Autumn rice has ended.
