Rondônia is projected to produce 4.4 thousand tons of beans in the 2020/2021 harvest, despite challenges like bad weather and the COVID-19 pandemic. The production volume is expected to remain stable with similar area of 3,900 hectares as the previous season. However, bean cultivation has been on a decline, with more farmers shifting to other crops. Beans are essential for the region's residents, contributing to their income and serving as a source of nutrition. The state supports bean production through the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) and Banco do Povo. Both black beans and carioca beans are rich in essential nutrients like carbohydrates, fiber, and proteins.
