The Rural Development Administration in Korea is working to develop and cultivate rapeseed to produce healthy food and increase farm income. The country currently cultivates 5,000 hectares of rapeseed, primarily for landscape use, but plans to expand this for oil production due to the health benefits of the oil. Domestically produced cold-pressed rapeseed oil has been shown to have high levels of functional substances and beneficial effects. The administration is also establishing cultivation complexes to secure a stable supply of domestic rapeseed and laying the foundation for mass production of rapeseed oil. This could potentially bring new income for farmers through the 'rapeseed resource circulation model'.
