The Russian Federation has seen a significant increase in the production of greenhouse vegetables over the past five years, with a 23.3% rise in domestic production and a 27.6% decrease in imports. The Central Federal District led the production with 35% of the total volume, followed by the Volga and North Caucasian Federal Districts. The growth is attributed to the expansion of new areas, use of advanced varieties, and modern technologies. The demand for greenhouse vegetables in Russia has also increased by an average of 7% in the autumn-winter season of 2024/25 compared to the previous season. The industry is actively replacing imports and investing in modern infrastructure, including vertical greenhouses and phytotron complexes.
