The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico plans to export agri-food products from small and medium producers to Asian markets, including Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, in 2021. The products to be exported include avocado, berries, citrus fruits, tequila, and agave syrup, and the distribution will be facilitated at the 'Foodex Japan' 2021 event. The ministry aims to provide foreign trade opportunities to producers without the resources of large companies and also plans to strengthen the export of Oaxacan mezcal, Chiapas bananas, and Veracruz coffee. Estimates suggest that exports from the agri-food and fishing sector to Japan this year will be between 1,200 and 1,300 million dollars, despite the pandemic.
