Santa Catarina's pitaya harvest saw a significant increase of 75% from the previous year, with over 1,750 tons sold and an economic impact of approximately 7 million. Nearly all the production was sourced from the southern part of the state. The main market for the fruit was the domestic South and Southeast regions, with a small fraction exported to Canada. Despite facing challenges due to weather conditions, the harvest exceeded expectations and is seen as a valuable source of diversified income for small rural producers in the state.
