The article highlights the success of an initiative by the Manavgat District Governor's Office in 2004 to distribute early cherry seedlings to forest villagers, aiming to provide an alternative crop and source of income. The cherry cultivation in the Burmahan District has become substantial, covering around 1,000 acres and yielding significantly, with an estimated production of 600 thousand tons this year. These cherries are primarily grown in the highland region at an altitude of 800 meters in the Taurus Mountains and are exported mainly to European countries, with this year marking the start of exports to South Korea. The Manavgat Chamber of Agriculture is actively supporting and advising farmers to cultivate a variety of other crops suitable for the region.
