Seedless grapes, mini and midi watermelons, nutraceutical tomatoes: born to resist climate change and pathogens, the "fruits" of varietal innovation (even without the Teas) delight palates and climb sales charts. One example among many: the watermelons commonly referred to as "baby," those that do not require steel biceps for transport: in 2025 they outdid traditional watermelons, relegating them to a niche market (9%): sales in the Gdo have now become the realm of mini (60%) and midi (31%), as attested by the data from Cso-Italy during the recently concluded edition of Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
