SHAH ALAM (April 16): Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said RM130.42 million has been allocated for the first phase of the package, which will commence in June, following the state government’s annual budget review and the implementation of several cost-saving measures. He said the package aims to strengthen food security, reduce the cost of living, curb excessive inflation, encourage the use of public transport and provide targeted assistance to the most affected groups. “This situation (conflict in West Asia) indicates that these challenges are unlikely to subside in the short term, and even if the conflict eases, it will take at least a year for crude oil, gas, fertiliser, sulphur and helium production to return to pre-war production levels. “That’s why, in Selangor, we cannot take a wait-and-see approach but must be prepared to face this situation over a prolonged period,” he said at a special press conference on the Selangor state government’s preparedness to face the ...
