The Central Statistical Office reports a 2% increase in the harvest of fruit from fruit shrubs and berry plantations compared to the previous year, totaling approximately 0.6 million tonnes. Despite the increased yield, the quality of the fruit was negatively affected by frequent rainfall and high humidity, leading to an increased development of fungal diseases and pests. The harvest of raspberries saw a 13% decrease due to these conditions, while the harvest of black currants and gooseberries experienced increases of 6.5% and 10% respectively. The strawberry harvest also increased by 8%, although the supply period was shortened due to fungal diseases. The total harvest of fruits from fruit shrubs and berry plantations in orchards, excluding strawberries, was approximately 143 thousand tonnes, marking a 3% increase from the previous year.
