On February 22, 2023, a significant seizure of 30 tons of frozen pig carcasses, without the necessary customs clearance and import documents, was made at a cargo yard in Sadao District, Songkhla Province. The smuggled goods, originally from Brazil, were intercepted by the Regional Customs Office 4, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies. The seized carcasses were subsequently buried at the Songkhla Animal Quarantine Station in compliance with the Animal Epidemic Act B.E. 2558 and a memorandum of agreement between the Department of Livestock Development (DLD) and the Customs Department. This action aims to prevent the spread of harmful substances and diseases from uncertified pork products, underscoring the importance of import regulations to ensure food safety.
