South Africa is expanding the areas for avocado production beyond traditional subtropical regions into KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Southern, and Western Cape provinces, covering 1,000 hectares in the Cape region alone, which accounts for 5% of the national production. The harvest season lasts from October to January, aligning with the requirements of major export markets, which the region accesses through its eastern ports.
