On April 16, 2026, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food lifted all restrictions on the breeding of domestic birds that had been introduced due to avian influenza. The decision comes following a positive assessment of the epidemiological situation and improvement over the past few weeks. The restrictions had already been partially eased since April 1, remaining only in risk areas and wet zones. Now they are completely lifted throughout the country. Nevertheless, authorities urge maintaining and strengthening biosecurity measures in poultry farms and immediate reporting of suspicious cases to veterinary services.
