The UK saw a surge in pig meat production in November, reaching 91,900 tonnes, driven by the Christmas demand and the highest monthly clean pig kill since March. Despite a slight decrease in average carcase weights, production increased by 6% from October. However, compared to the same period last year, production fell by 2% due to heavier carcase weights from a backlog in the previous year. The year-to-date production (Jan-Nov) increased by 2% from the previous year, reaching 966,200 tonnes, largely due to the heavier carcase weights early in the year.
