Brazilian sugar cane producers are seeking to reduce cultivation costs by investing in private nurseries and implementing drip irrigation. The technology has allowed them to reduce seedling production time by 4 months, effectively doubling production in a 14-month cycle. Additionally, it has led to increased productivity, resulting in more buds per cane tiller. Drip irrigation has proven to be profitable for both large and small producers, offering opportunities to sell seedlings at higher prices, up to 300% more than the revenue from sugarcane sold to the industry.
