Taiwan is set to become the first Asian nation to eradicate swine flu in pigs by 2024, as announced by the Chairman of the Council of Agriculture, Minister Chen Chi-chung. From 2023, pigs will no longer need to be vaccinated against swine flu, and all vaccination programs for breeding pigs will be suspended by July 2023, provided no outbreaks occur. Taiwan plans to seek recognition as a swine-flu free country from the World Organisation of Animal Health, a move expected to boost the export market for its pork products.
