Tanzania is investing in modern equipment and technologies to enhance the quality of home-produced wine and compete in the global market. The equipment, imported from France, Italy, and South Africa, includes a wine tank, basket press, digital abulliometer, screw capping machine, and wine pump, among others. The Makutupora Centre's laboratory is also planning to install a modern walk-in solar drier to produce raisins. The aim is to add professional value to the grape product value chain, scale up wine research and training, and empower grape farmers to produce grapes with the required sugar content for wine making. The government is also registering grape farmers to engage in profitable contract farming with wine making industries.
