Thailand's sugar exports are projected to increase by 17% in the 2022/23 crop year, reaching 9 million tonnes, as the country plans to produce 11.5 million tonnes of sugar by grinding 106 million tonnes of sugarcane. This is due to favorable global prices and adequate rainfall, returning sugarcane production to pre-pandemic levels of 100 million tonnes for the first time since 2019. Thailand consumes 2.5 million tonnes of sugar annually.
