Poland: The beef cattle market: as livestock prices increase, production costs increase

At this year's Simmental cattle show in Rudawka Rymanowska, the cows brought by breeders looked impressive. The breeders were satisfied with their champions. They proudly talked about their show successes. However, their face fell a bit when we asked about the prices. Here, dairy farmers were more talkative, because the market has been stabilized for a long time and the prices offered for the delivered milk satisfy producers. Fattening growers have less reason to be happy. Although the price currently offered for live cattle is 22% higher than last year, the costs of breeding have also increased significantly. In the third week of August, purchasing entities paid an average of PLN 7.71 / kg, which is 2% more than the week before and 5.5% more than a month ago.
